SG3d INFORMATION

  • SG3d description and tutorial.
  • SG3d updates for GRASS 4.2.

  • Obtain working demo of SG3d.

The demo comes with a minimal amount of sample data. This SG3d program module was compiled to run without installing GRASS, but in order to use SG3d effectively with your own data, you should install and learn to use GRASS. GRASS is a powerful Geographic Information System that allows researchers to use a variety of statistical and spatial analysis techniques to evaluate their data. SG3d helps in this evaluation by providing an easy to use display mechanism to view 2D data as a surface in 3D space. For more information on how to obtain the GRASS GIS software, see GRASS 4.1 Release Information. Available with the release is a complete set of sample data for an area near Spearfish, S.D. which contains dozens of data "layers" such as soil types, geology, land use, elevation, roads, streams, etc.

  • If you are already using GRASS on an SGI, you may want to get the latest version of SG3d (October 1994). This version contains several new undocumented features .
