KEYFRAME ANIMATION

Riverbed Flyby (movie - 521,969 bytes)

With keyframe animation the user specifies the viewing position at a few "key" times in the animation; then the animation program interpolates positions in-between for the total number of desired frames in the animation. This type of animation is useful in visualization to simulate flight paths, view hidden data, or provide additional visual cues when depth is ambiguous, such as when translucent surfaces are being used.

Integration of keyframe animation capabilities within the GRASS GIS using the GRASS program SG3d makes it easier to use animation for geographic analysis, reducing the need to learn complicated professional animation packages and eliminating the need for exporting data to other formats.
